It’s not often these days that visits to the NC General Assembly are focused on FUN! But that’s what our “Healthy Options, Healthy Choices” day next week will be — and you won’t want to miss it!

Join in on the fun! RSVP here:

http://action.momsrising.org/survey/join-us-healthy-options-healthy-choices-day-nc-legislature/

MomsRising parents, kids, and lawmakers will be gathering at the legislature for an educational, fun, and fast-paced event. Out on the lawn of the Halifax Mall, we will hold several activities that get kids moving and learning about (and eating!) healthy foods, including:

  • A Pre-K 1K walk/run for kids and legislators;
  • A “storyboard walk” that will get kids both walking and reading;
  • An arts & crafts activity on building a healthy eating lifestyle;
  • A lawmaker-led story time; and
  • A “healthy choices food cart” which will be stocked with healthy food options, offered for free.

Can you make it? Let us know by RSVPing here: http://action.momsrising.org/survey/join-us-healthy-options-healthy-choices-day-nc-legislature/

Why have an event like this at the legislature? Well, of course it’s fun, but also our lawmakers need to see and understand how important their role is in making sure that kids across the state have access to healthy, affordable foods, time to run and play during the school day, and are educated about how a healthy diet and regular activity contribute to their overall health (and the health of our communities!).

Here are all the details:

When: June 9, 2016 from 10am-11am
Where: NC General Assembly, Halifax Mall (The grassy area behind the legislative building), 16 W Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601
Who: Parents, children, policy makers, and others who support healthy food choices, healthy children, and farmers

Please RSVP and invite your friends to join you! Just forward them this link: http://action.momsrising.org/survey/join-us-healthy-options-healthy-choices-day-nc-legislature/

I’m looking forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, just email me at felicia@momsrising.org.
